Ask yourself these questions

If some or any of the following reasons apply to you, we can certainly find solutions that will save you even more money.

  • Do you have your mortgage insured with a bank?
  • Has it been more than three years since you last reviewed your coverage?

  • Do you have any life insurance policy, which is not a 10-year renewable term?

  • Are you over 40 and have association life insurance, i.e., BCAA or group policy at work?

  • Does the term “preferred life insurance rates” mean absolutely nothing to you?

  • Do you currently spend $50/month or more on all your life and/or mortgage insurance products?
  • Are you concerned that you may have either insufficient or too much life insurance coverage to meet your financial obligations and provide for your family?

Our partners are top Canadian insurance companies

We are honoured to be working with all the companies in Canada who will accept applications in the new efficient way – the Internet. We operate exclusively non-face-to-face over the phone and electronically through the Internet. The good news is that these companies are the price and process leaders and offer outstanding product variety, value and customer service.

In the early 2000s, the company’s founder met with many of these companies to convince them that this was the way of the future and that we completely complied with regulations. A few took months before they would accept this new innovative approach, while others held out years until we had proven our process, and only then would they allow us to sell their products in this manner. Below is a growing list of companies that we represent and those with whom we do not work.

Allianz Insurance, Allstate Canada, AIG, BCAA, CAA, CIBC Insurance, Canadian Tire, Costco, CUMIS Group, Faith Life, Gerber Life, Giraffe & Friends Life, Hartford Life, Investors Group, Knights of Columbus, La Capitale, London Life, National Bank Life, New York Life, Primerica, Reliable Life, Scotia Life, Sears Financial, State Farm Insurance, World Financial Group (WFG), PC Insurance, Standard Life, TD Insurance, Union Life, Zurich Insurance.

Companies we do not work with often have agents who only sell their own products, which effectively prohibits consumers from shopping for the best rates or coverage.

There are also other providers in the marketplace operating as insurance resellers. These providers sell insurance products by adding a marketing charge on top of the actual companies’ products, thus making the premiums more expensive than buying directly. These insurance resellers are automobile or professional associations, grocers, retailers, department stores, hardware stores, mortgage lenders and the banks’ mortgage insurance.

In Canada, a not-for-profit organization called Assuris protects insurance policyholders if their life insurance company defaults. Equally important, the Canadian government also regulates life insurance companies requiring them to maintain conservative capital ratios. This conservative capital requirement does not exist with insurance conglomerates in the United States or elsewhere.

IDC Insurance Direct Canada Inc. Makes Available Quoting Resources for EBSource.com – Canada’s Resources for SMEs and their Employees

Effective August 06, 2026, EBSource.com, a Canadian platform dedicated to group benefits knowledge, now falls under the direct oversight of IDC Insurance Direct Canada Inc. (IDC Insurance). Previously managed by ORCA Financial Publishers, IDC Insurance’s parent company, the platform will retain its current name and web address, ebsource.com, and operate as an independent publishing brand within IDC Insurance.

What Does the Transition Include?

The transition covers a specific set of publishing assets rather than an operating insurance entity. IDC Insurance now directly manages the EBSource brand, the ebsource.com domain, its complete content library, the editorial and publishing workflow, and other assets associated with EBSource’s publishing operations.

EBSource has not become a licensed entity as a result of this transition. It remains a publishing platform, and the line between published educational content and personalized insurance services stays exactly where it was. ORCA Financial Publishers no longer manages EBSource as of the effective date, though it remains IDC Insurance’s parent company. All operational, legal and data responsibilities associated with the platform now sit directly with IDC Insurance.

What is EBSource, also known as EBS?

EBSource is a Canadian educational platform that helps employers and employees understand workplace benefits and group insurance. Its content covers employer-sponsored benefit plans, group insurance structures, government programs, payroll and income tax obligations.

The platform’s role is educational. We publish guides, comparisons, and explanations to help you understand complex benefit decisions before deciding whether professional assistance is needed. EBSource does not sell insurance, issue policies or provide personalized advice.

Its primary audience includes employers evaluating or managing group benefit plans, employees navigating their workplace coverage, HR professionals and plan administrators responsible for day-to-day benefits operations.

EBSource has built its content library over time with a focus on accuracy, Canadian relevance and practical usefulness. Readers can explore its articles, guides and educational resources at ebsource.com.

Why Does the Transition Fit IDC Insurance’s Strategy?

This transition supports IDC Insurance’s long-term strategy to make it easier for Canadians to access and use information about insurance and employee benefits. It combines EBSource’s educational platform with IDC Insurance’s advisor experience to help readers better understand complex topics, support more informed advisory conversations, and identify where additional educational resources are needed.

IDC Insurance holds insurance licences across all 13 Canadian provinces and territories and is one of the largest independently managed insurance brokerages in Canada. By bringing EBSource under direct management, IDC Insurance can now offer readers access to group benefit plans and pricing consultations alongside the platform’s existing educational content.

EBSource’s guides are built to explain, compare and clarify rather than to steer a reader toward a transaction. That editorial independence is a large part of what makes the content effective. There is no registration wall, no automated follow-up sequence and no assumption that every reader is looking to become a client.

How Will EBSource Operate Under IDC Insurance’s Management?

EBSource will continue to operate as a distinct publishing brand. It keeps its own name, its own domain, and its own editorial workflow. IDC is not merging it into IDC Insurance’s corporate website, rebranding it under IDC Insurance’s name or folding its content into its existing pages.

The operating model is straightforward. IDC Insurance provides ownership, compliance oversight and the operational infrastructure that supports the publishing process. EBSource’s editorial team handles content research, writing, fact-checking, review and publication. These are parallel functions with a clear boundary between them.

That boundary matters most in the relationship between editorial content and insurance services. An article published on EBSource does not automatically become a recommendation, a quote or a personalized opinion. If a reader finishes an article and wants to explore professional assistance, IDC Insurance handles the pricing, facilitates communication with licensed advisors, and manages the consultation process separately from the editorial side. Participating in one does not require participating in the other.

Which EBSource Team Members Will Collaborate with IDC Insurance?

IDC Insurance has retained the full editorial team responsible for EBSource’s content. The EBSource team now works with IDCInsurance’s licensed advisors to improve service quality, providing readers reliable information and practical decision support. Our editors and contributors who have been involved in the platform’s day-to-day publishing work will remain in place and will continue operating through IDC Insurance’s management structure.

Jennie Le is the Head Writer at EBSource, a role she has held since October 2023. Her editorial focus centres on group benefits and related workplace topics across Canada. She is known for her ability to break down dense regulatory and insurance concepts into clear, practical content that Canadian employers and employees can confidently use when making benefits decisions.
Miley Ton is the Head Writer for EBSource’s digital tools division, where her work centres on Canadian tax, payroll and benefits calculators. She develops the written guidance and instructional content that accompanies each tool, ensuring users understand the inputs, assumptions and limitations behind every calculation.
Ellie Trinh, Mia Nguyen and Iris Nguyen are Website Content Writers at EBSource. They research, write, and maintain educational content across the platform’s core coverage areas, including government programs, labour and employment law, and workplace planning.
Ben Nguyen, Geoffrey Greenall, Aaron Cyr, Cara Boston, Harold Yang and David Lam bring professional experience in group insurance, employee benefits and financial services. In addition to their advisory role, they also serve as active Writers and Editors, contributing directly to the platform by researching, writing, and editing content, guiding editorial direction, and ensuring the platform’s output reflects current industry practices and regulatory requirements.

Authorship records have been carried forward as part of the transition. Every byline, publication date and contributor credit that existed before the transition remains unchanged on ebsource.com. IDC Insurance considers transparent authorship a core component of content credibility, and no attribution has been altered, consolidated or removed as a result of this transition.
In addition, IDC Insurance maintains a clear distinction between editorial responsibilities and professional advisory functions.

A person who writes or edits content for EBSource holds an editorial role. That role does not, by itself, constitute a licence to deliver personalized insurance guidance, tax opinions or legal recommendations. If an editorial contributor also holds a professional designation or regulatory authorization relevant to the subject matter, that credential will be identified alongside their work. Otherwise, their contribution is presented for what it is: research, writing and editorial review, not licensed advice.

When published content addresses technical areas where independent subject-matter review strengthens accuracy, IDC Insurance will identify the reviewing professional and their relevant qualifications so that readers can assess the depth of expertise behind the material.

What Does the Transition Mean for Employers and Readers?

For employers and HR professionals who use EBSource as a reference, the day-to-day experience remains unchanged.

What the transition does introduce is a clearer path from education to optional professional assistance. With insurance licences across all 13 Canadian provinces and territories, IDC Insurance is positioned to facilitate that connection.

If an employer finishes reading a guide on group benefit plan design and wants to discuss options with a licensed advisor, or explore group benefit plans and pricing, that option will be available through IDC Insurance’s service process. IDC Insurance handles pricing and facilitates direct communication with advisors. If that same employer prefers to continue researching independently, nothing changes about their access to the content.

No reader will be required to become an IDC Insurance client to use EBSource. No article will be placed behind a registration wall. The platform’s purpose remains educational, and the transition does not alter that purpose.

For a detailed explanation of what has changed, what remains the same and how EBSource will continue operating under IDC direct management, read EBSource.com Now Under Direct Management of IDC Insurance Direct Canada Inc.
